This week, we’re celebrating National Apprentice Week 2021 – with this year’s theme of ‘Build our Future’.
Apprenticeships provide an alternative path to education while ensuring that professions and industries have the skilled workers they need. Unlike years ago, apprenticeships have now been embraced as a viable alternative to university, and the modern apprenticeship is accessible, and flexible for the younger generation and employers.
We’re proud to say that a few of CSM’s employees have all come through our very own apprenticeship scheme and have progressed significantly in their roles to become team supervisors and now work in senior level positions within Customised Sheet Metal.
Our apprentices have completed Welding and Metal Fabrication apprenticeships, Adam Wellington who started as an apprentice with us at Customised Sheet Metal ten years ago, is now one of our welding specialists and Team Supervisor, and commented: “Apprenticeships are so important for being able to learn the basic skills of the industry as well as boosting confidence and improving social mobility. My experience of completing an apprenticeship has been invaluable and I have now progressed to becoming the companies welding coordinator and supervisor.”
Sheet Metal Fabrication is a unique skill to acquire and we pride ourselves on teaching and sharing our knowledge with those who choose to do an apprenticeship with us. We’re excited to be able have apprenticeships available for the younger generation to learn the skills and progress their careers at Customised Sheet Metal.
Keith David, Managing Director, Customised Sheet Metal, commented: “With no further education and a time served apprenticeship as my background, I cannot speak highly enough of the opportunities apprenticeships provide. I learned how to deal with real world problems as they arose which not only set me up professionally to progress, but it also allowed for important personal growth too. Having apprentices at CSM has always been important to the company and this will continue to be the case in the future.”
We currently have two apprentices who are working their way through our welding and fabrication apprenticeship, Lyndon and Teilan, who are working hard to learn the skills of the trade and we’re excited to see their career progress at Customised Sheet Metal.
