CSM launch apprenticeship scheme

CSM have launched a new apprenticeship scheme in a bid to encourage young people into the sheet metal industry.

The scheme has been launched with the aim of recruiting two apprentices to join the Customised Sheet Metal team. The apprenticeship will be for the positions of Sheet Metal Workers and will last for three years. During that time, the apprentice will develop a variety of metalwork skills with the aim of progressing into design work. More information on various designs that CSM have already created can be found in the blog – CSM makes customised metal pieces for Hollywood movies – and services page of their website.

To promote the scheme, Malcolm Pearce – Managing Director of CSM – has been to the local college, Bridgend Technical College. During his visit, he spent time with students talking about the scheme and providing them with an insight into the day to day work of CSM as well as offering invaluable information about the sheet metal industry.

Malcolm comments:

Nourishing new talent and encouraging growth is vital to ensure the sustainability of not only our business, but the industry itself. The sheet metal industry is old and well established, which is why we want to see young people coming up through the ranks.

Given the current political climate, it’s now more important than ever to see young people investing in the development of local businesses, particularly in the manufacturing sector. We hope that our apprenticeship scheme will set a precedent for other organisations to invest their time into developing young people – they are the future, after all.
